Department Accomplishments

Accomplishments of Faculty and Students

This year has been another productive and rewarding one for our faculty and students. Several faculty members published new books, including research on the Roman port of Ostia, the life of the female Roman poet Sulpicia, and the travels of Odysseus. Many faculty also received prestigious awards recognizing their important contributions to the field of Classics and to the Humanities more broadly. In particular, Distinguished Professor of Classics Victoria Wohl was inducted as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. Three of our graduate students defended their dissertations and earned their doctorates. Finally, our undergraduates were acknowledged for their strong skills in the ancient languages, with three students taking home top prizes in the Classics Association of Canada Sight Translation Competition. Congratulations to all! You can read more about these accomplishments and more here.
