Biography :
Angus is a PhD candidate with a broad research focus on Latin literature, particularly the Augustan poets. He received his BA (Vind., 2022) and MA (Dal, 2023) with theses on Roman epic. His previous research has considered the immediate philosophical influences on Vergil’s work, especially Epicureanism. His dissertation explores decolonial approaches to the ancient historiography of the colonization of Italy as it is portrayed in Vergil’s Aeneid. This research is supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC).
Research Interests: Latin philology, epic poetry, post- and decolonial criticism, historiography, historical linguistics.
