Biography
Sarah Murray is a cultural historian and archaeologist specializing in the material culture and institutions of early Greece, especially the history of exchange between the Aegean and the Eastern Mediterranean and the social archaeology of the Early Iron Age Aegean. She completed her BA in Classical Archaeology at Dartmouth College in 2004, then received a PhD in Classics from Stanford University in 2013. She has over a decade of fieldwork experience in the Mediterranean, and is currently co-directing an archaeological survey project around the bay of Porto Rafti in Eastern Attica (Greece). Her scholarly publications include a monograph (The Collapse of the Mycenaean Economy, Cambridge UP, 2017) and single- or co-authored articles in scholarly journals including the Journal of Field Archaeology, American Journal of Archaeology, Hesperia, and Journal of Archaeological Science: Reports.
