Description

Presented by the Classics Students' Union

This seminar intends to provide classics students with an introduction to and showcase of de/postcolonial approaches to classical scholarship and pedagogy.
This event intends to begin considering the question of how we reconcile teaching a degree rooted in colonialism on Treaty Lands.

The seminar will consist of three talks from Professor Katherine Blouin, Professor Ben Akrigg, and PhD candidate Alison Cleverley. We are happy to be presenting works both in collaboration with the publication Everyday Orientalism, and from the Routledge Handbook of Classics, Colonialism, and Postcolonial Theory. The seminar will be followed by a short panel/Q&A session.

The event will also be streamed on Zoom for those unable to attend in person. See you there!
