The Department of Classics is extremely proud to announce Professor Victoria Wohl is beginning her term as the Jane K. Sather Professor of Classical Literature at the University of California, Berkeley.
As part of the Professorship, she will deliver a series of lectures, titled “The Poetry of Being and the Prose of the World in Early Greek Philosophy,” beginning September 21st. The lecture series is then published as a book by the University of California Press. The publications associated with the Sather Professorship include many seminal works of classical scholarship.
The Jane K. Sather Professorship of Classical Literature was established in 1920. Oliver Taplin, FBA, Professor of Classical Languages and Literature at the University of Oxford, described the professorship as “the most prestigious in the subject in the world.”
